Who Should Pay for the Iraq War?

I recently submitted my idea to the Change.org Website. Mine is for taxes and us as citizens having a say in what we pay for. I thought it would be cool if we had a check form that you have a say in paying your taxes. I feel we would be more enthusiastic about paying our taxes if we have a say in what our tax dollars go to. If we support schools, firefighters, emergency workers, health care, prisons (keeping murderers alive or executing them), the War in Iraq and Afghanistan; we could even provide percentage wise what we feel should go to the government programs that we as US citizens care about.

I get so incredibly frustrated as hear of these bailouts, free rides, corporate jets, wasteful spending, Halliburten, Black Water, Prisons, the War on Drugs, propaganda, and more!

I feel we should have a new Government for the people, and more importantly by the people. For those who choose to support this war, please by all means let them pay for it. Take the required percentage in taxes and have them pay for it. Dick Cheney should pay the heaviest cost of us all since he and Rumsfeld were behind this War in the First place. It was mistake war and I as a US Citizen would love the opportunity for all of us to sew those criminals. I feel we should have these guys live a poor life as the rest of us are; take most of their money to pay for their war and have them pay us back for this war that they caused and are solely responsible for. Fair is what is fair.

Provide these War Criminals with just enough to pay for the bare necessities. Let them live in an apartment and just enough for them to get by as we all get by. They have raped our country and nearly bankrupt us all over greed. What's fair is what's fair. You broke it, you fix it at all costs for the rest of your life and your children's lives. It's not fair the our Grandkid's kids will still have to pay for what these war criminals have caused.

So here is my Idea Word for Word:

"I strongly oppose the government's handling our tax dollars. I feel for as hard as we work for our money; we deserve to make payments towards Government that we believe in. I would love the opportunity to only pay for the government programs that I believe in and every one of you to be able to do the same.

I get so incredibly frustrated as I hear of these bailouts, free rides, corporate jets, wasteful spending, Halliburten, Black Water, Prisons, the War on Drugs, propaganda, and more! All of these are government wastes that I don't wish to support.

Just like we have those complicated forms where we have to disclose the amount of money that we make, we could also have a check form with bubbles or check boxes where we check all programs that we wish for our money to go. We we as US Citizens and Taxpayers would have a say in paying our taxes or what our tax dollars will go to. I feel we would be more enthusiastic about paying our taxes if we actually have a say in what our tax dollars will go to.

If we decide that we wish to support schools, firefighters, emergency workers, health care, prisons (keeping murderers alive or executing them), the War in Iraq and Afghanistan; we could even provide percentage wise what we feel should go to the government programs that we as US citizens care about.

A special accountant or mathematician could be hired by the people and for the people could actually figure out what programs, what wars, or what ever is supported and get rid of those programs that we don't wish to support. For those who choose to support this war, please by all means let them pay for it. We could break up the costs of the war where we can support taking care of those injured soldiers, provide them supplies or a ticket home. Take the required percentage in taxes and have them pay for it.

I am seriously questioning the Federal Government in how they handle US Citizens. They seem more dangerous to society for the laws that are created out of greed. These last 8 years has made me really loose much faith and trust in the Federal Government. This would be an excellent way to build more trust in our Government."

Change.gov....

So what is Change.gov? Well love it or not, it is the new tool where we as US citizens can have a say in what the government is doing.

If you don't like something, you can easily suggest something new or suggest some changes that you would like to see. All ideas are being considered and looked into. This is a new stream lined approach to a small part of running our government.

You can find the form for Change under the following:

Go to "American Moment" and then you have the choice of "Share your Story" or "Share your Vision". The form is very user friendly so there is no excuse for anyone to just sit on their butt and complain, feel sorry for themselves or just be pitiful period. Do something, fill out an easy form. We have all have a say in Change to come. That's the beauty of it! I think this is a brilliant step forward.

With each new day, I read about another good qualified person who is going to work with this new Administration. Its really exciting to see all the qualifications for the new people coming aboard and the supposed reasons for choosing this person and what experience they bring to the table.

Here are just a few:
Top White House Economic Adviser: Lawrence Henry Summers
Secretary of State: Hillary Clinton
Secretary of Treasury: Tim Geithner
National Security Adviser: James Jones
Attorney General: Eric Holder
Commerce Secretary: Bill Richardson
Health and Human Services Secretary: Tom Daschle
DHS Secretary: Janet Napolitano

Change is also coming to FEMA and we all know that is something we really need. Instead of being a part of Homeland Security, it will be its own Independent Agency.

It might take a while to see some good changes, but the Bush Administration has seriously messed up our country. There's a lot that needs fixing but I feel we are headed in the right direction.

While I do still worry that there still will those lazy few who take the easy way out and expect us all to pull their weight or pay their way. I honestly feel that those who do receive handouts should donate their time to charity or just to the city or even to schools which seem to really need it. What comes around goes around and if you work at least some then you get those benefits. Working a few hours here and there cleaning up our neighborhoods, working in soup kitchens, homeless shelters, animal shelters, schools and more. Volunteers are needed especially in this time. After all, you should give something to get something, right?

Protection of our new President

I know there are many people out there who are just starting to show their hateful racist sides since Obama is now our new President Elect. It is already being reported that Obama has had more death threats than any President elect ever has. True it scares me and I am so very thankful for those who are protecting him. I hope they are able to protect him because he has so much good to do for the world. I feel very strongly that he is going to make the best President we have ever seen in our lifetime. I just pray that no one assassinates him before he is able to help us get out of the funk we are in.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081115/ap_on_el_pr/obama_threats

As I read this article & others like it, it is extremely shocking to me at some of the threats and even contests as to when most feel he would be assassinated. "Let's hope we have a winner" for the shotgun pool in Main, public hanging in NC? I have to be honest that I am blown away at many of these pranks or threats what ever we call them.

In all reality, these are incredibly ignorant people in my eyes who judge someone clearly on the color of their skin. To not to get to know this human being is a loss. He has so much to offer us and it is truly a gift to our Country. I thought we have moved past this, but most clearly we have not. It is so scary and I pray that he is kept safe from any of these crazy terrorists. That's exactly what they are. I hope everyone of them is taken seriously as to protect our future leader of the Free World. I know we have a freedom of speech, but it should not be pushed as far as freedom to threaten someone's life!

I just can't comprehend what these people are thinking and to even teach their children this hatred is incomprehensible.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081115/ap_on_re_us/obama_racial;_ylt=AiofaIablG7pYUi44JBaImayFz4D

Right now, we are witnessing this intelligent young man surround himself with highly capable cabinet members who are not at all afraid to challenge him. The pick of Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State is already proving this. She is very independent minded and him picking her only enforces that he is not afraid of being challenged. He is not at all a typical politician in my eyes. Bush never really picked people who were really qualified for the job as we have just seen.

This is a critical time for our Country and the last thing we need is someone to assassinate this promising young man without giving him a chance to lead us out of the troubled times we are in.

The color of his skin makes NO difference what so ever in his ability to lead. I love his ambition and am very excited about changes to come. Each day a new qualified person announced is more hope instilled in my heart! We have such a bright future to look forward too and to waste energy thinking the negative is inevitable is no way to live. True, it won't be easy but if we all work together, anything is possible. I pray that we don't have another history repeating itself and some crazy loon assassinates our only hope for change. Please, let's just him a chance that he so rightly deserves.

If you feel that you must complain without giving him a chance, at least check out Change.gov and make some suggestions for change. If you don't like something, don't just sit there and complain, do something. I know I plan to. Let's face it, our Country really does need change and to even comprehend ending this wonderful person's life is not at all acceptable.

A Historical Moment in History- A New President to be proud of

Last night I witnessed one of the most spectacular moments in history I have ever witnessed in my lifetime. An African American has won both the popular vote and electoral votes needed to become our 44th President.

Here is McCain's Concession Speech:

This is a moment in history that we can not take for granted. The rest of the world is watching us and are possibly surprised that we all voted together to make this happen. We have a new found respect and reason to be Proud Americans. We will need to work together to make this country great again and I know we can do it!

I wasn't at all pleased that Proposition 8, that Discrimination Bill aimed towards gays passed. Most were frightened that the institution of marriage was about to end if gays were allowed to actually marry each other. It does no good to be frustrated over this; these are problems and there are solutions. Just because our California Constitution will have a stipulation in it that will state that California only legally recognizes a marriage between a man a woman. There is also hope that we can have another amendment recognizing a Same Sex Union (Compromise=working together). Its not at all the end of the world that this passed. We need to move on and respect those who voted for this ammendment. They don't all hate gays, they are scared of marriage ending or not meaning anything. I see light at the end of this tunnel!

Perhaps we can all work together to ensure that these other couples who are not covered in the State Constitution & who are being discriminated against can have the same benefits as married couples like health, property rights and much more. Hopefully we won't have to fork over millions more of dollars just so that they can or can not have those same rights.

It's still a happy day in history and Proposition 2 also passed for Farm Animals to be able to stand up, turn around, or lie down. I am actually elated over this! This wasn't too much to ask for and millions of dollars went into this campaign from both sides. It just came down to greed on the Farmer's side. I hate to say this, but it is true. Before the 70's packing animals as if they were just corpses while they are still alive did not exist. The animals lives were just not worth it to these farmers and that they should continue to live an unhealthy life in a sardine like environment. Our health and their health are worth it and we should care about both. This is healthier for us because we are what we eat.

In Michigan, they were able to legalize Marijuana for Medicinal use and expand on Stem Cell Research! Lots of new props passed and some did not, but this was all due to us being able to vote and voice our opinions because we deserve to. It's the beauty of democracy and being able to vote. No one stole the election this time. Most of us spoke and he is listening.

It does no good to fret and worry about the future. Please do get it out of your mind about conspiracy theories and that excessive worrying and anger will get you no where. I was patient for 2 terms and each time he won, I was hopeful that things would get better. I'm still alive and still fighting, in fact we all are. Just enjoy the moments that you can because none of us know what beholds the future and worrying about it will do NOTHING.

It's still a happy day to have a wonderful President to be Proud of and to have the gift of witnessing a very important day in history. History books are written on important days such as today. Cherish these moments and if you can't look around you and you will see something to be thankful for.

NO on Prop 8! Equality for All!

Here in CA we actually have on the ballot a real discrimination bill. This bill is disguised as a bill meant to protect marriage and to distinguish marriage as only being between a man and a woman.

So let me get this right, if this bill does NOT pass and gays are able to marry; does that mean that there will be more divorces? I don't get it, what is so bad that is happening to the institution of marriage if two people who happen to be the same sex, are in love and who end up getting married? Are these fundamentalist people actually blaming gays for their marriage failures?

I have seen the commercials and have even done a little bit of homework in reading all there is I can from both sides. Now teachers are not at ALL required to teach Gay Marriage. True, their curriculum should be discussed on what these teachers do teach but gay marriage should not be one of them. Why would a large teacher's organization (CTA) spend 1 million to defeat this measure? Basically it really comes down to rights and those who are scared to death of gay people getting married. They are focusing so much negative energy on hating these people that it is not at all healthy.

I'm sure most parents do their very best to raise their children and to teach them right from wrong. Perhaps some even teach them the Golden Rule "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" in other words treat people how you would want to be treated. I often wonder if some parents ever teach children this or just hatred? Personally if it were in the cards for me to blessed with having children, I would never teach my children to hate. I would teach them to love, but not to hate.

As much as people around me have Jesus in their hearts, I honestly don't feel Jesus would like it much and don't get me wrong, I am not a super religious person (I don't go to church, don't need to prove anything to anyone), but I am very spiritual. Jesus is supposed love everyone right? Don't we all sin? Are some people just more perfect than others or do they just think they are?

I feel we should all have the freedom to make our own decisions and not have others there to make those decisions for us.

I also feel strongly in my heart that this Proposition is very, very wrong! I fight for what I believe in and I feel strongly that it is wrong to deny these individuals the right to marry each other if they are that much in love. They deserve the same rights as my husband and I. I feel they are just like us. I am unable to have children too, but I still have a heart and soul.

I also don't see how on earth these people being able to marry is ever going to kill people? Is it really worse than the current Meth problems in inner cities? Is it really yours or my business who marries who? I say get a life. These people need the same rights as myself and my husband.

Most who claim they are against gays being married because they feel isn't natural simply because they can't have children are slapping couples like my husband and I in the face. I assume they must be against our marriage because I have cancer and unable to conceive children. We are OK with that, but from my understanding is that our Marriage is against what most believe in for the "Sanctity of Marriage". The woman must be able to have children and I'm not able to. My husband is a real man for sticking by me anyway and marrying me right after my initial diagnosis. That's more than what John McCain can say as he left his disfigured wife to have numerous affairs.

My husband and I are very much in love and thank god we have rights and I feel its only fair that gay couples are able to have those same rights. What is this in America where others are so against 2 people who are in love that they cast the first stone at them and specifically ask that our State Government change its Constitution in order to discriminate against them?

Do we really live in the Land of the Free? You know what? Face it! We all sin! No one is perfect and certainly not those of you who are against these couples who are in love enough that they desire to be married. Who are you to judge? Who are you?

I have seen gay couples who were very much in love and more so than most straight couples. They didn't get married and just spent 30+ years together. Now if one dies they have no property rights, death benefit rights and much more. So is divorce still allowed for the sake of sanctity of marriage? This sanctity of marriage excuse really is BS.

People really do need to get a life and be concerned about their own loved ones not worrying about 2 people who have fallen in love with each other and wish to gain the same rights at most other couples. My husband and I are married and I feel we have 1 thing in common that most close minded people feel about gay couples in that they can't have children. My husband and I can't have children either because I have a deadly cancer.

Most people are very homophobic and can't stand to see two people who are gay and in love with each other. I have a very good solution. Just learn how to look the other way. If you are way too homophobic and the world has changed that much.

This has been around for centuries and if not longer, just not publicized as much. People used to be ashamed to go outside their houses and were very secretive for fear of not being accepted. Well times have changed and we are more accepting of other races, ethnicities, genders, and more. Now we are more open to be who we are and accepting of others.

I voted NO on Prop 8 because I believe in my heart it is wrong to discriminate against anyone. Does anyone live by the Golden Rule anymore? Does it not exist to anyone anymore? (Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you) in other words treat others as you would want to be treated. I live by this rule and it is my number 1 rule. What comes around goes around and you are in charge of your own destiny.

I live by the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would want them to Do unto you". Too many people don't live by this essential rule. I don't feel those who decided to discriminate even gave thought to the Golden Rule when proposing this hateful form of discrimination.

Too many people hate those they have never taken the time to get to know.

Redistribution of Wealth

It's no secret that I am a Peaceful Liberal and while I may be bleeding internally from the Chemotherapy treatments that I am on; I am in no way as cold hearted cold as many conservatives seem to think about all liberals. Where they come up with that, I will never know.

I like to give everyone a chance and I certainly don't meddle into anyone's business about going to church, what they should and should not do with their own bodies, or who they should love. I have my own life to worry about and it seems if they had a life, they too would need to worry about their own loved ones or themselves for that matter.

We are all individuals in this world together and I feel that we are all in charge of our own destiny's by the choices that we make daily. I think Jesus would be proud of all of us if we could learn to accept others for the individual way that they are (not the cruel hearted who kill or steal from others), but those who are not harming us at all physically. If we could all work together he would be very proud. Greed is not a good thing and in life as we are young, some of us are taught to share. I still do and NO it not wrong to share with others.

Now here is my take on the whole Redistribution of Wealth that Obama is speaking of. He is not a socialist and we don't have to be so frightened as the other side is trying to scramble and distort the truth on us.

You know those CEO’s who are literally making millions and some even billions each year; now because of deregulation, their salaries have skyrocketed. Now for the past 8 years of Bush Policy, those CEO’s salaries have tripled and some have even quadrupled while the middle class salaries have gone down thousands of dollars.

Now as for banks, credit card companies, cell phone companies, even pharmaceutical companies and much more; the middle class are charged excessive bank fees, cell phone fees, interest fees, (seriously we have been getting jacked= look at your credit statement sometime for an example); now these fat cats are getting some serious tax breaks from Bush and McCain who just wants to give them even more?

Now how is what they do so much harder work than what you or I do? Why should my family pay 40% of my income while they only have to pay 15% of theirs? Not sure if any of you know it, but while we are worried about these fat cats paying too much of their salaries on taxes, we have a war that’s costing US up to 9 billion per month, lives are being lost, and our economy is needing a serious jump start. The middle class is slowly disappearing; many of us who are struggling to pay bills in these hards times and face it, we could use it. How is giving us tax breaks so wrong when many of these crook CEO’s are getting by with jacking us?

All the while those greedy bastards (and perhaps all are not that greedy but that’s not what we are seeing right before our eyes), look at Walmart (just an example), they pay their employees basically the least amount that they can get by with legally, they don’t even offer very good health insurance (in fact they even discourage their workers from using it and instead insist they apply for the state run which is paid by taxpayers). They often do utilize the States for providing Medicaid and Medicare for their employees. Sometimes they will even go to a location, build a store and not have to pay local taxes for up to 5 years.

While these CEOs salaries have magnified, our own salaries have gone down and if you notice inflation hasn’t exactly fluctuated for us; it has for the CEOs but definitely not us. Look at the price of gas over the last couple of months and how much those CEOs of those oil companies have made by jacking us on the gas prices.

Now please don’t tell me again that you feel sorry for those rich bastards when you or I have worked just as hard if not harder and we get taxed at 30-40% of our income while they only have to pay around 15%. Mean while they get to keep all their money so that they can afford to invest it overseas.

This trickle down, Reagonomics really is failure (we are actually witnessing this right before our very eyes) and we really do need change and from someone who has been there, done that. It just make a whole lot more sense to give us more money to work with and at least it will be spent here to grow our own economy and not some other countries.

As for voting for Obama. Obama worked hard during his life and was taught this by his maternal grandparents. His mother was a world traveler but he had enough traveling and as a teenager he made up his mind that he needed stability in his life so he stayed his grandparents. He didn’t have his mommy and daddy to save him all the time.

I feel that McCain is still a spoiled brat even as an old man (can you believe he used to hold his breath until he passed out if he didn’t get his way as a child?). He has a very quick temper and not at all what we need in a leader.

I have been trained in medical emergencies and being calm is a true gift. You need that during a major crisis. When someone is as "fly off the handle" and erratic as McCain is, a serious emergency can go down hill and even become very deadly and dangerous. In a real medical emergency, the calm, cool, collectiveness of Obama's temperament goes a long way.

McCain really is insane! The whole "Country First" is such a big huge lie. He isn't running for our Country, he is running for Greed so that those CEO's won't have to pay so much in taxes and you and I do. That's pretty much it.

He is saying and doing everything he can to get elected and has quite literally sold his soul to the devil. There are many war heroes in our country and many have been through much more than he has. I think McCain did what he had to do and it was probably very good for him in that his parents spoiled him rotten. Unfortunately there are those who grew up privileged and just never got it in life that the world does not revolve around them. They seem to go through life thinking that there are no consequences for all of their actions and some who are raised spoiled in this manner just don't learn about what life is really about.

For those of us who are not raised in privilege and have to learn to share with our siblings; we are also taught that we really do have to work hard in life to get what we want. Some who are so wealthy are never truly happy and we wish to make them wealthier? Now is sharing really a bad thing?

My Thoughts on Capital Punishment

First off, I firmly believe in Capital Punishment. It has been around since the dawn of time. I just can not make myself have any sympathy for someone who has committed a violent crime such as murder. I even feel that serial rapists deserve the death penalty. I strongly feel the more severe the crime, the more severe the penalty.

It seems that violence has soared lately and crimes are getting more and more violent simply because the penalties are not that big a price for most who commit those crimes. It just involves being in prison forever?

Capital Punishment is now more or less a joke in that it normally takes nearly a lifetime. Seeing justice served takes nearly a lifetime with our current Justice System. Appeals take even more time to get through the courts (sometimes up to 20-30 years).

The United States as far as violence is concerned, seems to have gotten more and more dangerous as the drug war has dragged on and punishments for most crimes have gotten very lax and ineffective. The worse they get is to be put in jail cell for the remainder of their lives and more and more prisons are filled with the most dangerous criminals alive.

I would much rather use my money to save innocent animals than the dangerous animals on death row or in prison for the rest of their lives. Its not really punishment at all. Many are comfortable in this setting and probably committed the worst crime in order to stay in a structured environment for which we as taxpayers are paying heavily for.

It now seems that if you are rich enough then you can pay lots of money to the courts and get away with murder and we can clearly see. (OJ Simpson, Robert Blake, just to name a few)

Our system of Justice is something that really needs to change because as it is now most who are too poor to afford a good lawyer don't really get the chance to a fair trial and end up with an over worked public defender who may not even be qualified or incentive to do a good job. How can you actually put a price on a life, once again?

I believe strongly in the cycle of life and us humans are a part of it too as much as we don't wish to acknowledge it and yet so many are in serious denial of this. We are animals too as much as most of us don't like it and if we treat animals less worthy than someone who has violently killed another innocent living breathing person. In actuality, that evil person's life should end. You take a life, you give your life.

These animals are animals and they deserve to die. I have no sympathy for someone who commits such a violent act against another innocent person. If someone is proven to not have a conscious about killing another, that person should be considered an animal and should be euthanized or hung and made an example of. Yes, I said it hung. Yes, its barbaric, but so is killing an innocent person very violently. Eye for an eye.

Innocent homeless animals are killed in shelters everyday and these animals are far worse. I honestly don't understand housing such violent offenders and worrying about their rights when they took no consideration of the rights of the victim. Why keep someone alive in a cage for the rest of the lives? Why not just end that life as they have cost another life?

Most don't really understand that death really is natural and not as scary as most make it out to be. Hanging someone isn't that violent when that person has violently killed another. It is no way violent. If more people looked at killing someone and then flashed themselves being hanged for doing so, perhaps they might not be so enticed.

Tragically there have been many killed mistakenly over the years and it hasn't been a whole lot and yes, that is unfortunate, but just as wars and casualties lost are also unfortunate. What about the lives of those who are innocently committed to life in prison? That's just as bad as death itself. You are in a cage for life and how is that for living your life? Is that quality of life for someone innocently convicted of a crime. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't view life in prison as a good life. I would prefer my capital punishment over life in prison; but that's just me. In all reality, we all die eventually and from many many different circumstances.

Not to get off the subject, but our Justice Department will need some serious revamping after all that has happened with the Bush Administration. I feel that Monica Goodling should go to prison for her roles in destroying our Justice Department. Her illegal role in hiring attorneys and staff was and is act of treason. She used her power abusively by judging individuals, cherry picking qualifications based on beliefs and political leanings which are not at all legal in standard hiring practices. Our Justice Department really needs the most qualified and skilled workers who can give people fair trials so that more innocent people are not charged. Cases need to be scrutinized more so, so that the innocent are not charged for severe crimes.

That's just my view on Capital Punishment.

The Big Bailout...Concerned?

I apologize for not posting anything about the debates or even updating this blog. To be quite honest, it does look like my favorite candidate is going to win and hopefully by a landslide. I only pray and hope that this election will not be stolen as the past 2 have been.

It is hard for me to articulate exactly what is happening before us. Yes, there is so much right now as we are witnessing history each day. The markets are plunging, people are loosing jobs and homes while CEOs are and have been getting salaries that seem so outlandish compared with the rest of us as our incomes became lower and lower.

How did this happen? Why do most feel that these crooks feel they should get to keep this money? Why did bankers feel that they should have to pay these executives 2 billion or more dollars salary per year? What did these people do to deserve this excessive amount of pay?

Questions need to be answered because if you ask most Americans if they would do the same, most would definitely say "no". What is behind John McCain's reason to not tax this money and to want to tax exclusively the middle class or take away further Medicare benefits from seniors? What does he stand to gain if these billionaires get those tax cuts? You know we most certainly don't gain anything if McCain is able to win and continue these disastrous Bush Policies.

I sort of have this blind hope that this articulate young man will help lead the rest of us out of the trouble that we are in. I feel in my heart that he has great solutions which really make sense. He will help true Americans and hopefully create more jobs here. I too am struggling as a small business owner and I hope to create many jobs here as well if I become successful.

Why should those CEOs and huge corporations continue to get massive tax cuts while those working 2-3 jobs, barely struggling, having to move into smaller living spaces, cutting corners and more to just survive have pay more taxes (percentage of their income)?

Why should those who are fortunate enough to have health insurance have to pay taxes on this health care on top of the payroll taxes we continue to pay? More and and more struggling Americans can not even afford health insurance. McCain's plan is disastrous and it just shows how seriously out of touch he really is. We pay more taxes so that the wealthy get further tax cuts? That the middle class which is starting to disappear, who will benefit under Obama's plan is considered Welfare?

Worrying about the bail out and more does nothing; so please just enjoy your "Right Now" and every day that we are blessed with. The only thing that we can do about this crisis is to learn from it. Are our Representatives and /or Politicians really thinking in our best interest? Do make sure that you vote for who you feel has your best interest in mind. What about our leaders? What can we do?

To get back to this bail out. We can only watch and hope that it works and that hopefully these videos that several of my friends have forwarded to me are not at all true. I must warn you that these videos are quite disturbing and all the more reason not to trust these Republicans in office who have allowed any of this to actually happen. We need to think of our Country and its Citizens first; to become the world power we once were because our Country allows its citizens to be free. I do pray that none of this is true and I have to admit I don't believe it is. We just need to vote November 4th for the best candidate who is really able to lead us.

I have complete trust in Barack Obama. I have never felt this way about a true leader as I have about him. I hope nothing happens to him and history is not repeated. If someone stupid assassinates him, my heart will be truly broken. He strikes me as a magnificent leader. I almost feel as if I love him like a family member as I have watched his speeches and this whole campaign. Many are sick of him but I certainly am not! He is truly gifted and he gives me the hope, inspirations and the desire to keep fighting this disease. I actually look forward to his speeches and to listen to him for four years and even to even look at him for the next four years makes me happy. Its such a good feeling that he brings me and so does his family! His mother died of the same disease I am fighting, but I still have hope in my heart that I can beat it and things will get better for all of us!

Seriously, what really is best for our Country?

This is the question I would like to pose for all who are seriously considering voting for John McCain (what state of mind is he in - should we demand a psychiatric evaluation of both candidates). That's what it comes down to, we should just go for it. Look at the insanity that we are in right now.

What we now face
  • we are in 2 wars and its costing us 11 Billion or more per month
  • Halliburton continues to rip off the United State Government - an audit should be demanded from all of us and they SHOULD pay back each and every penny stolen
  • education really has gone down hill and our country has suffered for this - we are no longer competitive and our Education can not afford to suffer. Programs in schools have been cut and parents now have to cough up more money in order to get the classes their children really need
  • Health care continues to skyrocket and more and more United States citizens are uninsured and are basically screwed should something happen to their health; they can loose everything they have worked so hard for over the years.
  • the break-up in both parties - total division politics as it is (neighbors actually hate each other for voting for the other party)
  • The rest of the world is watching to see if we really are racist and ignorant and it will prove that we are should we vote for McCain / Palin who will continue the Bush policies that are further causing our country to downward spiral.
Who is Sarah Palin and why does she continue to lie and tell untruths?

This letter came out the next day after John McCain picked this woman he had only met once before. This is a woman who knows her personally and felt compelled to tell the rest of world what this woman really stands for and I'm sure many have met similiar people in their lives.
Snopes confirms that this letter is real and you can even Google this woman's name Anne Kilkenny:

Here is her letter:

I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992. Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her father was my child’s favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the residents of the city.

She is enormously popular; in every way she’s like the most popular girl in middle school. Even men who think she is a poor choice and won’t vote for her can’t quit smiling when talking about her because she is a “babe”.

It is astonishing and almost scary how well she can keep a secret. She kept her most recent pregnancy a secret from her children and parents for seven months. She is “pro-life”. She recently gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby. There is no cover-up involved, here; Trig is her baby. She is energetic and hardworking. She regularly worked out at the gym.

She is savvy. She doesn’t take positions; she just “puts things out there” and if they prove to be popular, then she takes credit. Her husband works a union job on the North Slope for BP and is a champion snowmobile racer. Todd Palin’s kind of job is highly sought-after because of the schedule and high pay. He arranges his work schedule so he can fish for salmon in Bristol Bay for a month or so in summer, but by no stretch of the imagination is fishing their major source of income. Nor has her life-style ever been anything like that of native Alaskans. Sarah and her whole family are avid hunters. She’s smart.

Her experience is as mayor of a city with a population of about 5,000 (at the time), and less than 2 years as governor of a state with about 670,000 residents. During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had given rise to a recall campaign.

Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents.

The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was still in litigation 7 yrs later–to the delight of the lawyers involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.

While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office redecorated more than once. These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city. As an oil producer, the high price of oil has created a budget surplus in Alaska. Rather than invest this surplus in technology that will make us energy independent and increase efficiency, as Governor she proposed distribution of this surplus to every individual in the state.

In this time of record state revenues and budget surpluses, she recommended that the state borrow/bond for road projects, even while she proposed distribution of surplus state revenues: spend today’s surplus, borrow for needs.

She’s not very tolerant of divergent opinions or open to outside ideasor compromise. As Mayor, she fought ideas that weren’t generated by her or her staff. Ideas weren’t evaluated on their merits, but on the basis of who proposed them.

While Sarah was Mayor of Wasilla she tried to fire our highly respected City Librarian because the Librarian refused to consider removing from the library some books that Sarah wanted removed. City residents rallied to the defense of the City Librarian and against Palin’s attempt at out-and-out censorship, so Palin backed down and withdrew her termination letter. People who fought her attempt to oust the Librarian are on her enemies list to this day.

Sarah complained about the “old boy’s club” when she first ran for Mayor, so what did she bring Wasilla? A new set of “old boys”. Palin fired most of the experienced staff she inherited. At the City and as Governor she hired or elevated new, inexperienced, obscure people, creating a staff totally dependent on her for their jobs and eternally grateful and fiercely loyal–loyal to the point of abusing their power to further her personal agenda, as she has acknowledged happened in the case of pressuring the State’s top cop (see below).

As Mayor, Sarah fired Wasilla’s Police Chief because he “intimidated” her, she told the press. As Governor, her recent firing of Alaska’s top cop has the ring of familiarity about it. He served at her pleasure and she had every legal right to fire him, but it’s pretty clear that an important factor in her decision to fire him was because he wouldn’t fire her sister’s ex-husband, a State Trooper. Under investigation for abuse of power, she has had to admit that more than 2 dozen contacts were made between her staff and family to the person that she later fired, pressuring him to fire her ex-brother-in-law. She tried to replace the man she fired with a man who she knew had been reprimanded for sexual harassment; when this caused a public furor, she withdrew her support.

She has bitten the hand of every person who extended theirs to her in help. The City Council person who personally escorted her around town introducing her to voters when she first ran for Wasilla City Council became one of her first targets when she was later elected Mayor. She abruptly fired her loyal City Administrator; even people who didn’t like the guy were stunned by this ruthlessness.

Fear of retribution has kept all of these people from saying anything publicly about her.

When then-Governor Murkowski was handing out political plums, Sarah got the best, Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission: one of the few jobs not in Juneau and one of the best paid. She had no background in oil & gas issues. Within months of scoring this great job which paid $122,400/yr, she was complaining in the press about the high salary. I was told that she hated that job: the commute, the structured hours, the work. Sarah became aware that a member of this Commission (who was also the State Chair of the Republican Party) engaged in unethical behavior on the job.

In a gutsy move which some undoubtedly cautioned her could be political suicide, Sarah solved all her problems in one fell swoop: got out of the job she hated and garnered gobs of media attention as the patron saint of ethics and as a gutsy fighter against the “old boys’ club” when she dramatically quit, exposing this man’s ethics violations (for which he was fined).

As Mayor, she had her hand stuck out as far as anyone for pork from Senator Ted Stevens. Lately, she has castigated his pork-barrel politics and publicly humiliated him. She only opposed the “bridge to nowhere” after it became clear that it would be unwise not to.

As Governor, she gave the Legislature no direction and budget guidelines, then made a big grandstand display of line-item vetoing projects, calling them pork. Public outcry and further legislative action restored most of these projects–which had been vetoed simply because she was not aware of their importance–but with the unobservant she had gained a reputation as “anti-pork”.

She is solidly Republican: no political maverick. The State party leaders hate her because she has bit them in the back and humiliated them. Other members of the party object to her self-description as a fiscal conservative.

Around Wasilla there are people who went to high school with Sarah.

They call her “Sarah Barracuda” because of her unbridled ambition and predatory ruthlessness. Before she became so powerful, very ugly stories circulated around town about shenanigans she pulled to be made point guard on the high school basketball team. When Sarah’s mother-in-law, a highly respected member of the community and experienced manager, ran for Mayor, Sarah refused to endorse her.

As Governor, she stepped outside of the box and put together of package of legislation known as “AGIA” that forced the oil companies to march to the beat of her drum.

Like most Alaskans, she favors drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She has questioned if the loss of sea ice is linked toglobal warming. She campaigned “as a private citizen” against a state initiaitive that would have either a) protected salmon streams from pollution from mines, or b) tied up in the courts all mining in the state (depending on who you listen to). She has pushed the State’s lawsuit against the Dept. of the Interior’s decision to list polar bears as threatened species.

McCain is the oldest person to ever run for President; Sarah will be a heartbeat away from being President. There has to be literally millions of Americans who are more knowledgeable and experienced than she. However, there’s a lot of people who have underestimated her and are regretting it.

CLAIM VS FACT

•“Hockey mom”: true for a few years
•“PTA mom”: true years ago when her first-born was in elementary school, not since
•“NRA supporter”: absolutely true
•social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships (said she did this because it was unconsitutional).
•pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to promote it.
•“Pro-life”: mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life legislation
•“Experienced”: Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska. No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city administrator to run town of about 5,000.
•political maverick: not at all
•gutsy: absolutely!
•open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at explaining actions.
•has a developed philosophy of public policy: no
•”a Greenie”: no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores and disconnected parking lots. Is pro-drilling off-shore and in ANWR.
•fiscal conservative: not by my definition!
•pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built streets to early 20th century standards.
•pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on residents
•pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city government in Wasilla’s history.
•pro-labor/pro-union. No. Just because her husband works union doesn’t make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim that she is pro-labor/pro-union.

WHY AM I WRITING THIS?

First, I have long believed in the importance of being an informed voter. I am a voter registrar. For 10 years I put on student voting programs in the schools. If you google my name (Anne Kilkenny + Alaska), you will find references to my participation in local government, education, and PTA/parent organizations.

Secondly, I’ve always operated in the belief that “Bad things happen when good people stay silent”. Few people know as much as I do because few have gone to as many City Council meetings.

Third, I am just a housewife. I don’t have a job she can bump me out of. I don’t belong to any organization that she can hurt. But, I am no fool; she is immensely popular here, and it is likely that this will cost me somehow in the future: that’s life.

Fourth, she has hated me since back in 1996, when I was one of the 100 or so people who rallied to support the City Librarian against Sarah’s attempt at censorship.

Fifth, I looked around and realized that everybody else was afraid to say anything because they were somehow vulnerable.

CAVEATS

I am not a statistician. I developed the numbers for the increase in spending & taxation 2 years ago (when Palin was running for Governor) from information supplied to me by the Finance Director of the City of Wasilla, and I can’t recall exactly what I adjusted for: did I adjust for inflation? for population increases? Right now, it is impossible for a private person to get any info out of City Hall–they are swamped. So I can’t verify my numbers.

You may have noticed that there are various numbers circulating for the population of Wasilla, ranging from my “about 5,000″, up to 9,000. The day Palin’s selection was announced a city official told me that the current population is about 7,000. The official 2000 census count was 5,460. I have used about 5,000 because Palin was Mayor from 1996 to 2002, and the city was growing rapidly in the mid-90’s.

I personally trust this woman's judgment and I even went to the factcheck.org to find out more truths and dishonesties and believe me, I found quite a bit of opposites of most of everything that has come out of Sarah Palin's mouth.

Most of what she preaches that she is, is completely false. She is a very good lyer and even pretends to know about issues that she doesn't even know about hence the Charlie Gibson interview and the Bush Doctrine. Granted most of us probably don't know what it is, but she is running for Vice President of the United States and should know a thing or two prior to running.

On the other hand, Barack Obama used his best judgment to pick a very well qualified candidate for his VP who has solid foreign policy experience and has written many excellent laws. Between the two of them (Obama / Biden) they have some great ideas to get our economy out of the funk that it is in.

We really have to look at the qualifications of each candidate when voting. We can't put gay marriage and abortion ahead of the real issues our country is facing. Just look at what happened last time when we thought that Gay Marriage would end the world. Well, our economy and the power of our dollar is just about to be flushed down the toilet.

Which of these candidates are actually capable of creating real change? Yeah she is beautiful and I give her that and yes, she has a degree that is not even close to what she is running for (Journalism). Looks can only get you so far and apparently quite far for John McCain. He just has this thing for beauty queens. He really thought that bringing an attractive woman as opposed to rumply old man to the White House was the change that we all wanted. No it just doesn't work that way and to lie to all of too?

Now, Obama taught Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School for 12 years and while that doesn't actual qualify his experience, he does understand what our Constitution is about and will not interpret it in his own way as the current President has. When a president is sworn into office, they must swear on the Bible that they will protect the Constitution. That is not at all what the Republicans do while in office. For some odd reason, the Constitution is just dam piece of paper and in the way of so many pockets of cash that they wish to grab. Now in order to protect our Constitution, one must have a full understanding of such a document. What about Freedom of the Press, Separation of Church and State both of which John McCain and Sarah Palin have a serious problem with so there goes the interpretation while not understanding what our forefathers meant for our Country when it was founded those hundreds of years ago.

We need a true leader who offers substance, not lies, but instead real substance, ideas, thoughts, actions and much more. Not just looks, but intelligence; is that too much for us to ask for? Really. Intelligence is a good thing, we don't need another brainwashing Propaganda campaign. We need the truth for once and a solution for our issues at stake here!
